Become aware of this moment

You may feel an emptiness in the chest or a vague feeling of unease. You may have a strong sense that you are missing something.
What you feel you are missing, what you crave so deeply, is this present moment.
But where is this moment? If your mind is so busy, so crammed full of thoughts, of stories, of judgments, of expectations, of desires, then this moment may not even seem to exist! It may seem as if only past and future have any reality.
To become aware of this moment, you simply need to become aware of your 5 senses.
Become aware of yourself sitting in your chair.
Feel the pressure of your body against the seat.
Notice objects on your desk. Don't label them or think about them. Just watch them.
Take a deep breath and feel your stomach rise and fall as the air enters and exits your body.
Listen to sounds that arise. Maybe there is the murmur of conversation. Maybe you hear the din of the computer running. Maybe you just hear the sound of air coming into your nostrils with each breath.
Look out the window and see the sky or the buildings or the lights. Don't label them. Just observe.
You are letting experience be as it is. When you are deeply focused on the now, when you are aware of your senses, space is created in the mind.
You are leaving the world of past and future and entering the only place where you can find peace, now...
