Not everything needs to be fixed

The mind has a deeply conditioned pattern of “fixing.” Most thoughts tend to be about changing, improving, undoing, getting somewhere, becoming someone. That is the nature of the mind. There is nothing personal about it.
Your mind will will insist:

"There is something that needs to be different before I can be at peace."
"There is something that needs to happen before I can be at peace."
"There is something that needs to change before I can be at peace."

The self-help industry is fueled by the widespread identification with the mind's thoughts. Even our culture is geared around the idea that we will find peace and be happy by looking better, becoming richer, finding the right relationship, buying the new product, changing our situation, or getting rid of something we don't like.

But it doesn't work. You know it. There are still many people who believe they will find happiness in the future. But others, including you, are waking up to the realization that nothing in the future can bring them lasting peace.
But you may still feel an internal sense of lack...

But an accurate definition of the self is impossible.
You are more than you realize,
more than you can define.
And the more time you spend
trying to nail down the definition,
the less time you spend living right now...
Your past is not your identity...
You, living now, is your identity.
